For 20 years, Thursday nights at Hatherleigh have had one constant: Phil Keatley, Phil's Wheel and plenty of banter.
Hatherleigh Sport and Recreation recently recognised Phil for two decades of running the much-loved "Phil's Wheel". It raises funds for the club and helps create the buzz and atmosphere that have become part of Thursday night tradition.
Around $38,000 for the club
Based on around 60 tickets at $2 each, across approximately 16 Thursday nights a season, Phil's Wheel has generated roughly $38,000 in ticket sales over 20 years.
Phil has also proudly moved with the times, embracing the club's new POS technology and keeping Phil's Wheel part of the modern club environment.
One of the heartbeats of Hatherleigh
His contribution extends far beyond fundraising. Phil is a former C.M.T. Fitzgerald Award recipient and has spent countless hours volunteering around the club. That includes many years working alongside his father Bruce: collecting bottles and cans, restocking the coolroom and helping wherever needed.
Phil is one of the heartbeats of Hatherleigh, and he has shown an enormous amount of loyalty, commitment and love for the blue and gold over many years.
A keepsake to mark the milestone
To mark the milestone, Sport and Recreation presented Phil with a special keepsake crafted by Dion Howell, in recognition of his 20 years of service through Phil's Wheel.
The club sincerely thanks Phil for the fundraising, the laughs, the atmosphere and, most importantly, the countless hours he has given to Hatherleigh.
